The ancient City of Palermo was surrounded by strong and tall bastions, people got out and entered from the Doors that opened on the bastions, today partly demolished and of which there exist just few ruins; while of the Doors we only know the names, except some that still remain standing, challenging the time and the carelessness of men. |

1300 esisteva, nello stesso luogo, un'altra porta, di cui non si conosce
il nome, allora in riva al mare, nel 1782 fu demolita perché cadente.
Al suo posto fu edificata la nuova che prese il nome di Porta di Carini,
perché da essa partiva la strada che conduceva alla vicina
città di Carini. In 1300 there were, in the same place, another door which name was unknown, in front of the sea; in 1782 it was demolished as it was falling to pieces.A new one was built and took the name of Porta di Carini because from there the road to the closer city of Carini began. |
