| Di origine antica, l'attuale Adrano sorge sulle antiche rovine di Adranon, fondata da Dionigi I° nel 440 a.C. Adranon partecipò alla guerra di Timoleone contro Iceta di Leontinoi, vinta dal capitano Corinzio appunto nella battaglia di Adranon nel 346 a.C. Conquistata successivamente dai Romani, cominciò la sua decadenza, subì nel tempo le sorti di altre città della sicilia orientale; dal tempo della dominazione Normanna si chiamò Adernò fino al 1929 quando riprese il nome antico. Durante la 2° guerra mondiale subì notevoli bombardamenti in conseguenza dei combattimenti tra le truppe alleate e tedesche. | |
| Of ancient origin, the actual Adrano rises on the ancient ruins of Adranon, founded by Dionigi I° in the 440 b.C. Adranon participated in the war of Timoleone against Iceta of Leontinoi, defeated by the Chief Corinzio in the battle of Adranon in 346 b.C. Conquered subsequently by the Romans, it started its decadence, it suffered the fates of the other cities of the Oriental Sicily; from the time of the Normann's domination it assumed the name of Adernò up to 1929 when it took back the ancient name. It suffered notable bombardments in consequence of the fights between the allied and German troops, during the 2nd world war. | |

Bellissimo esempio di costruzione normanna,eretto nel Secolo XI dal Conte Ruggero, e restaurato intorno al 1300. Attualmente il Castello ospita la Pinacoteca, la Galleria d'arte e il Museo dell'artigianato, e pure sede del Museo regionale archeologico dove sono esposti materiali preistorici siculi e greci provenienti dalle zone archologiche vicine. Il 3 agosto di ogni anno, per la festa in onore del concittadino S. Nicolò Politi, si svolge la tradizionale "Volata dell'Angelo", sulla cui bara, deposta davanti al Castello si fà discendere a volo un fanciullo in costume d'Angelo. |

Very handsome example of Normann construction, erected in the XI Century from the Count Roger, and restored above the 1300. Currently the Castle hosts the Pinacoteca, the Gallery of art and the Museum of the craftsmanship, also center of the Regional archaeological museum where there are exposed prehistoric Siculi's and Greek materials from the closer archeologiacal zones. The 3rd of August of each year, when there are the celebrations of the party in honor of the fellow citizen S. Nicolò Politi, it unwinds the traditional "Flight of the Angel," on whose cheat, deposed in front of the Castle,a child comes down flying dressed as an Angel. |

Di origine normanna, ingrandita nel Secolo XVI°, presenta la bellissima facciata a colonne, nel suo interno le 3 navate a croce latina divise da 16 colonne, (che si dice provenienti da un Tempio antico di Adranon). Vi sono custodite tele di GaspareVanzano (detto lo Zoppo di Ganci); da ammirare il polittico di scuola messinese del '500. |
Of Normann origin, extended in the XVI Century, it presents the very handsome columns façade, in its inside there are the 3 Latin aisles to cross uniforms divided from 16 columns, (it is believed that they are deriving from an ancient Temple of Adranon). There are also are paints of the Vanzano Gaspare (called the Zoppo di Ganci); to admire the polittico of Messina's school of the '500. |
